Adam Cohn is the Vice President of Global Brand Design at Converse, and is a Penn State graphic design alumnus. He will present "It's Not About You. But It Is" on Weds April 11th in the Stuckeman Jury Space at 6pm.
I’m a human who grew up near Philadelphia, PA, played sports and did well in school, hates that JFK, MLK, and RFK were assassinated, and had a Civil War fascination that nearly ruined my high school experience.
In 1988, I came to Penn State as a Political Science major with the goal of becoming a lawyer and director of political campaigns. Two years later I took an Introduction to typography class and realized I’d been a graphic designer my entire life without even knowing it.
So far, my career has spanned almost 25 years, and I’ve helped solve diverse design problems for equally diverse clients in many different mediums. My early career was about museum and information design as well as corporate identity and publications. For several years I was the founder and owner of a design studio working for public institutions and internet/technology startups. The bulk of my experience has been at both Nike Inc. and Converse, where I currently work as the Vice President of Global Brand Design.
Throughout all of this life of design, I’ve tried to create honestly, lead selflessly, bring diverse perspectives, and always make it about the final result. What the hell does it all mean? Come see my presentation on April 11, 2018, and we can talk about it.
