Penn State’s Summer Design Experience Camp (DXC) provides an active, engaging environment in which young designers in the Philadelphia area can explore key concepts, technologies, and practices through hands-on learning experiences related to the professional fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and graphic design.
The Design Experience Camp immerses students in the energy of the creative design process. They will learn how people use and perceive space, and how they might influence those perceptions. They will also uncover the design secrets of some of Philadelphia’s most iconic places, experience the professional world of graphic design, architecture, and landscape architecture, and imagine how their ideas can influence cities of the future.
The camp focuses on:
• Discovering the role of the creative process in design
• Site and office visits to explore design practice in action
• Learning how design impacts so much of what we see everyday
Additionally, the camp’s educational experiences will include multiple walking tours around Center City Philadelphia.
