Visual Communication I

This course is designed to introduce two and three-dimensional graphic communication skills and visual literacy in architectural design. Assignments will develop the student’s knowledge of the means and methods associated with hand-drawing and digital techniques used in the practice of architecture. Students will explore and critique the use of drawings and models as a means for observation, analysis and ideation.

The course will be conducted in the form of weekly lectures to cover theories and methods, and accompanying weekly working sessions, software demonstrations, guest lectures, and reading discussions. Assignments will provide a laboratory for experimenting with new representational techniques and an opportunity to advance drawing skills.
