Homecoming unveils 2019 logo

By Anthony Fiset UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – As is tradition, Penn State Homecoming’s Executive Committee unveiled its 2019 logo at halftime of the Blue-White Game. The logo reflects this year’s theme of “A Century of Stories.” Lauren Myers, a junior graphic design major, created this year’s logo, which depicts the iconic Allen Street Gates. “I really like how the it resembles the community as a whole,” Myers said in a release. “It embeds the university as a well as the history of campus and downtown. The gates serve as a separation of campus and downtown, but also symbolize a connection between students and the campus community.” Myers’ logo was one of 18 presented by Taylor Shipton’s graphic design class, which is tasked with pitching Homecoming logo designs every year. This year’s logo can be found all over merchandise, parade floats, and banners when Homecoming’s 9th Annual Legacy Celebration kicks off on Wednesday, April, 17 in the HUB from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Penn State football’s game against Purdue on October 5 will cap off Homecoming week in Happy Valley.
