100th Celebration in 2007
Our Centennial Year was one to remember – and it will live on in the commemorative poster and book created especially for that landmark occasion. On Saturday April 28, 2007 450 alumni, students, faculty, emeritus faculty and guests converged on Penn State for our Centennial Bash. The day included guided Stuckeman Family Building tours, a welcome address by Penn State President Graham Spanier and a presentation about campus designs by Gordon Turow, RLA, Director of Campus Planning and Design. The day concluded with a wonderful celebratory gathering in Beaver Stadium’s Mt. Nittany Club.
The Centennial Alumni Exhibit was a great success! We received 110 projects from 94 alumni representing 46 different firms or agencies. The projects represent the work of our alumni from the classes of 1961 to 2006. The boards were exhibited in the Rouse Gallery from April through September 2007. The alumni work submissions are one of the key components of the Centennial Commemorative Book. The book also includes work from our student archives, dating back to 1914! The hardcover book is 174 full-color pages and is available to purchase on-line at blurb.com (see link below). The book is $58.95 + shipping.
A watercolor by Emeritus Faculty Jim DeTuerk (class of 1961) serves as the basis for our special Centennial Commemorative Poster. It is 24” x 36” and can be ordered by sending a $30 check, payable to “Penn State” (includes shipping to USA addresses).
