WHAT:
NPS Academy is an innovative, experiential learning program designed to introduce undergraduate and graduate students to careers with the National Park service.
 
THE INTERNSHIP:
The Project Management intern will work with Project Management branch of the Facilities Maintenance division of Grand Teton National Park. Project Management provides oversight for all major contracting, landscape architecture, civil engineering and construction projects in the park.
 
The intern will work closely with the park’s project manager, assisting with in-house survey, design and construction activities, as well as oversight and coordination of contracted works. Interest or experience in engineering, data collection, or drafting and design would be helpful. Applicants should have a strong interest in resource preservation, project management, and an ability to communicate ideas effectively.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or an undergraduate degree in landscape architecture degree from an LAAB accredited institution.
  • Experience, training, or introductory level education in Natural or Cultural Resource Management is a plus
  • Between the ages of 18-35 at time of internship
  • US Citizen
SKILLS:
  • Computer Aided Drafting / Design (CADD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) using Autodesk platforms
  • Communication (Written and Oral)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams
  • Valid driver’s license
BENEFITS:
  • $280/week living allowance
  • Housing included
  • $1,100 travel allowance to-and-from the site
  • Upon successful completion of the internship & college degree, the intern may be eligible for Direct Hire Authority.
