The Photography Intern is responsible for assisting with capturing images of specific events and some social media efforts. The Photography Intern will report to the Marketing Coordinator. The Photography Intern will learn the ins and outs of Global Penn State and how to make photography and images a productive part of overall marketing efforts. This internship is an unpaid position. This position will require some evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules.
The Photography Intern’s primary duties include but are not limited to:
  • Take editorial quality photos with specific directive to help build Global Programs’ image library and social media image galleries
  • Work with staff members to write creative and accurate descriptions of images and maintain up-to- date image filing system
  • Assist with updating photos on Global Programs’ website and social media sites
  • Assist with any other assignments as necessary
  • Ability to create and upload Twitter & YouTube backgrounds, and minor video editing skills are a plus
Job Requirements:
  • Candidates should have own equipment or reliable access to equipment (computer access will be grated for in-office duties)
  • Ability to manage several projects at once
  • Candidates should have professional image
  • Candidates should possess good knowledge of cultural sensitivities to personal images
  • Knowledge of social media – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, blogs, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong editing skills
  • Be creative with an eye for design
  • Knowledge of digital media software – Photoshop or other editing software, etc.
  • Energy, with a desire to come up with fresh ideas
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty
  • Ability to contribute individually, and participate in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
  • Organized, dependable and detail oriented
  • Team Player
  • Quick Learner and Efficient
  • High sense of urgency
  • Able to work well under pressure
The Photography Intern may be asked to commit to office hours (as needed to complete editing and image gallery maintenance) and specific events, some on evenings and weekends.
  • Proficient in Photoshop and InDesign
  • Academic credit available
  • Minimum availability of 2-3 days per week
