We currently seek a motivated candidate with landscape architecture and municipal/urban planning skills to assist with an expanding LA and planning workload in our Rochester and Syracuse offices. The position is primarily for our Rochester office.
Duties include assisting senior LA/Planning staff in preparing landscape architectural products (concept sketches, site development plans, construction details, and contract documents); planning documents (comprehensive plans and feasibility phase studies); design reports and environmental documents; conceptual site and master plans; and graphic illustrations and visualizations, grant applications, as well as conducting site analyses, public outreach and meeting facilitation and construction observation.
Our projects include comprehensive rural and urban planning, streetscape and complete street design; active transportation planning; trail design; park and recreation master planning and design; sustainable site design including low impact development and green infrastructure. Frequent coordination and collaboration with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, sub consultants and municipal officials is necessary, offering a wide variety of experience and exposure to the profession.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning and preferably 2 to 5 years of planning and LA design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must possess proficient writing and communication skills, solid marketing abilities, and be able to communicate and interact effectively with staff and clients. Experience with computer software programs such as: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Design Suite, Sketch Up, AutoCAD and/or Microstation, and ArcGIS is required. Ability to prepare color graphics, 3D renderings, strategic planning documents, supporting analysis summaries, and grant funding applications is desired.
Candidates should possess innovative design skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to professionally represent the firm with clients and governmental officials.
