The Woodward Center for Excellence in Health Sciences Education at Penn State College of Medicine offers programs, resources, and grants to support faculty, residents, and students in the development of teaching skills and educational scholarship. The Woodward Center also recognizes our exemplary educators through a variety of teaching awards.

The Woodward Center is seeking a graphic design intern to develop print and digital marketing materials for workshops and events including flyers, programs, and posters, and to enhance the graphics/visual impact of content in presentations.

The Graphic Design Intern will have a wide range of responsibilities that will include: update and create flyers and newsletters; create digital versions of materials for electronic distribution; and develop a portfolio of materials to market our Center to leaders at the College of Medicine and other teaching hospitals. The internship does not require physical presence at the College of Medicine; all work can be completed remotely.

The internship requires a time commitment of approximately 3 hours each week during the 2018/19 school year, beginning fall of 2018. In the early winter (January – March) the hours will increase due to graphic design needs for our annual conference (approximately 5-7 hours/week in winter). Depending on the candidate’s current position/status at PSU, there is an opportunity for this to be a paid internship.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Junior or Senior majoring in Graphic Design, Integrative Arts
  • Strong GPA, experience with Adobe products such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or other desktop publishing tools
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Ability to meet with Woodward Center faculty once/week remotely
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively through email or other electronic methods (e.g., Zoom)
