Raised by potato farmers in the rural Midwest, Lisa developed a formative respect and commitment to nature at a young age. Her 12 years of broad landscape design experience, coupled with her knowledge of horticulture and agriculture informs her approach to design – solving complex issues through research, conversation and collaboration. She credits her late mentor, Peter Lindsay Schaudt, for showing her the importance of the ‘dignity of restraint’ in design.

Prior to joining Penn State, Lisa served as Senior Landscape Architect and Project Leader at West 8 New York where her role spanned both the design and execution realms. She served as the project manager for the award-winning Governors Island Hills Project. Her work has been published in Landscape Architecture Magazine, World Landscape Architecture and in Metropolis POV.
