Ruescas Baztán completed his post-professional studies, holds a professional degree, and an international Ph.D. in Architecture from E.T.S.A.M., Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Universidad Politécnica, Madrid, Spain. His work deals with time: material intervention upon the existing, bond breakage and reconfiguration as a means of a shift in function, in meaning.

In his dissertation "Tenacious Objects," he explores the conditions and properties that enable certain built structures to endure through minimal material transformation. His research is objectified in different mediums; an oeuvre that is comprised of large-scale canvas series, art pieces, and installations.

As a registered architect in Spain, he has built, among other projects, the adaptive reuse of the Aurosol Factory, Madrid's Municipal AVAM Artist's Experimental Ateliers, or the renovation of the AM and Silveira Residences, and is the author of theoretical design proposals including the structure for the protection of the San Isidoro of Avila Romanesque Ruins, or the NeWindsor Urban Capacitor.
