Ruescas Baztán completed his post-professional studies, holds a professional degree, and an international Ph.D. in Architectural Design from E.T.S.A.M., Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain.

His work deals with time: material intervention upon the existing, bond breakage, and reconfiguration as a means of a shift in function, in meaning.

In his published dissertation "Tenacious Objects," he explores the conditions and properties that enable certain built structures to endure through minimal material transformation. His research is objectified in different mediums; an oeuvre that is comprised of large-scale canvas series, art pieces, and installations.

His latest piece, Reflexive Forest, was awarded first prize in the All-In International competition, to be built on Penn State grounds.

As a registered architect in Spain, his built work includes the adaptive reuse of the Aurosol Factory, Madrid's Municipal AVAM Artist's Experimental Ateliers, and the renovation of a series of private residences. Among his theoretocal design proposals are the San Isidoro of Avila Romanesque Ruins protection structure or the NeWindsor Urban Capacitor.
