Fang Chen holds a Bachelor of Graphic Design from Hubei Institute of Technology and a M.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wuhan.
Chen’s work has been exhibited and published worldwide, and he has won a number of awards, including First Prize at the 9th Chaumont International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of France, Top Prize at the 11th Colorado International Poster Biennale of USA, Grand Prix at the 4th Trnava Poster Triennial of Slovakia, Gold Award at the 1st Hong Kong International Poster Triennial of China and First Place at the 4th Patio Brasil International Environmental Humor Show of Brazil. In addition, Chen is the recipient of Honor Laureate of the 15th Colorado Biennale, Master’s Eye Award of the 5th Trnava Triennial, and Golden Bee Award of the 5th Moscow Global Biennale of Graphic Design.
His students’ work has also been recognized with many prizes, including First Place of the 40thPrint magazine’s International Student Design Competition in New York and First Prize of the 3rd World Biennial of Student Poster in Novi Sad.
Feature articles about Chen have appeared in World Graphic Design (Merrell Publishers Ltd., London), New Masters of Poster Design (Rockport Publishers Inc., MA), China Photography (Peking), Idea (Tokyo), Novum (Munich), Print, and Graphis (New York).
Chen has also served as a juror for international exhibitions/competitions, such as the Chaumont Festival, the Colorado Biennale, the Mexico Biennale, the Ningbo Biennale, the Trnava Triennial, the Poster for Tomorrow at Paris, and the World without Violence in Tehran.
