Stuckeman Jury Space

Ina Saltz will present a lecture "The Rise of Typographic Tattoos, " on Wednesday, September 26, at 6 PM in the Stuckeman Jury Space.

Former Time magazine design director Ina Saltz, a professor of digital design at the City College of New York, is the author of the Body Type series of books on typographic tattoos, as well as Typography Essentials: 100 Design Principles for Working with Type. She has had several solo shows of her photographs of typographic tattoos, and last spring fifty of her images were featured in an exhibition "Tattooed New York" at the New-York Historical Society. She has photographed and interviewed more than 900 tattooed subjects.

Saltz will explain how and why she first became involved with this ongoing project, how it evolved, and what she has learned along the way (it's been an amazing journey!). She will also offer advice to students about pursuing their own research and documentation, their own creative projects, and creating a cohesive body of work.
