Lecture: Dongsei Kim – "The Demilitarized Zone as a Proving Ground"

An award-winning architect, urbanist, and educator, Dongsei Kim is an assistant professor at the School of Architecture and Design at the New York Institute of Technology. He is also the founder of axu studio

This lecture presents a series of mapping and design projects that use the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) as a proving ground to rethink the commonly exclusionary nation-state border spaces as inclusionary spaces.

Kim's research on the DMZ has been recognized through notable international publications and exhibitions such as the Golden Lion award-winning “Crow’s Eye View” exhibition at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale.
