Welcome to Architecture
The strength of Penn State's five-year Bachelor of Architecture program is that it prepares students to practice architecture. This has always been a traditional focus of the school, and as we begin a new millennium in the Stuckeman Building, we reaffirm our commitment to architectural practice in the broadest sense of the term.
Our strong traditions of drawing, model-making, community outreach/service learning, and hands-on construction prepare our students to both explore non-traditional means of building delivery (such as design-build and digital fabrication) and to practice more conventionally, from behind a desk and a computer screen, armed with an intimate knowledge of materials and building processes.
The Department of Architecture is looking forward to a productive year. On Friday, March 16, 2012, the Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture will be holding a Career Day. We believe this all school format will add energy to this event as well as provide an opportunity for our students to be exposed to a wider range of design, project development and related firms. Mock interviews and optional interviews will be at Penn State’s Career Center, Saturday March 17.
The Stuckeman School is hosting the National Conference on the Beginning Design Student on March 29-31. The sessions will be held in the Stuckeman Family Building and throughout the Penn State campus.
It is also undergoing a faculty search for a tenure-track position in Digital Design and Building Fabrication.
Check back often for updates to the site, including a student blog from our Rome Study Abroad Program.
